Weekly Access Wellbeing service opens in Verwood
Free mental health and wellbeing support is now available in Verwood thanks to the launch of a new Access Wellbeing weekly drop-in service, held every Wednesday from 9am-1pm at Verwood Memorial Hall.
The new Access Wellbeing Verwood service is open to anyone aged 18 and over, with no appointment needed. It offers a welcoming space for people to talk and find support – whether that’s for mental health and emotional difficulties, or practical worries such as work, money or housing.
The new Verwood drop-in is one over of over 30 Access Wellbeing drop-in spaces across Dorset, delivered through an innovative partnership between five charities and the NHS. Weekly drop-ins also take place in nearby Wimborne and Ferndown, as well as locations across Bournemouth and Christchurch. Details on all Access Wellbeing locations are available on our Places and Spaces page.
A recent client of Access Wellbeing in East Dorset explains the difference the support has made to them: “Access Wellbeing have given me lots of guidance and support through a very difficult time with my mental health. The staff are extremely helpful and empathetic.”
Access Wellbeing services in East Dorset are managed by BCHA – one of five voluntary sector partners working together to deliver services in partnership with Dorset HealthCare.
Leanda Lee is the Hub Manager for Access Wellbeing East Dorset. She explains: “We’re so pleased to be bringing Access Wellbeing to Verwood. It isn’t always easy to ask for help when you’re struggling, so we want this new space to be somewhere people can simply walk in and have a chat, without judgement.
“Whatever’s on your mind, our team of friendly wellbeing coordinators can listen and offer one-to-one support – and you can come back for more sessions if you need to. You don’t need an appointment and you don’t even need to know exactly what kind of support you need. Just come and chat to us, and we’ll help you work out what might help.”
